Cradle of Filth et al., 13 Nov. 2004 at Atlanta's Masquerade
Here's an index to my pics from Cradle of Filth, Arch Enemy, Bleeding Through
and Himsa at the Masquerade in Atlanta, November 13th, 2004. This was
CoF's first headlining gig in Atlanta and the show came within 20 tickets
of selling out.
I was very close to the front and just to the left of center during most of
Himsa's opening set, and then on the barricade for the rest of the show,
being gradually pushed further and further toward the left (stage-right),
as you'll notice from the pics. Very hot and squished! Many people near me
had to be lifted out of the front by the security guys due to heat exhaustion,
etc.
As usual, with my 5-year old Kodak DC210+ digital camera, I got some decent
shots, and some so-so ones. Especially toward the end of the show, I
was too far to stage-right to get any decent pics of far stage-left,
and my flash didn't carry far enough to really illuminate upstage
(Sarah Deva at her beautiful wooden podium, etc.)
The last group are backstage and after-show photos taken for various
people. And even some taken of me, by friends. :)
Thanks to all the bands for being really cool! CoF were kind enough to
participate in a post-show meet'n'greet for
WREKage, the radio show for which I'm
a deejay. Several of the various bands' members hung around downstairs
during the club's goth-night after the show, too. Special thanks to
CoF's Dani, Paul, James, Martin and Sarah Deva (hope you get well soon,
Sarah!), and Derek from Himsa. All in all, a great -- if grueling -- night!

their show, their lead singer noticed that the guy right in front
of me
was really into their set and knew every word, so at one point he
pulled him up on stage and just gave him the mic. The last two pics
show him singing into the mic, and then onstage singing. Pretty cool!

Aside from CoF they were the band I knew the best, and their 45-minute set
was excellent!

Not too many because this was when I was getting slowly pushed along the
barricade to the left, and their set was surprisingly short, 30 minutes tops.
- Click here for pics from Cradle of Filth's first
Atlanta headlining set ever! It was an excellent set, although a bit short;
they performed for an hour and fifteen minutes (and always intended to,
according to the set-times). Also, they had two truckloads of set props
and things they couldn't use to 'dress up' the Masquerade stage because
the club wasn't big enough. Still, it was a great show. "Cruelty Brought
Thee Orchids" and "Her Ghost In the Fog" were practically worth the price of
admission alone!
- Click here for miscellaneous backstage and
after-show pics. The last photo of all shows James from Cradle of Filth
proudly displaying his bruised arm where he and CoF's Martin (I think) had
been having a punching-contest after the show. You can't see the bruise,
but trust me, it was there. :)
